I think your confidence is misplaced. Until DeSantis showed off his power and Oz lost senate, I’d say trump was still the lead guy for 2024. Local state stuff is weirdly decoupled in some ways.

I think your mistake is thinking trump is a red state phenomenon. He’s not really, that’s why he managed to surprise *both* red and blue state trad politicians in 2016. Until almost the last minute of the GOP primaries, the red state establishment, Fox, nobody took him seriously.
