This is not a headline. Mainstream media should just give up on election non-headlines and just cover the Muskening and the Ruggening while waiting to learn which befuddled septuagenarians will be in charge of wildly misunderstanding and misresponding to the events of our times.

Now that DeSantis is the 2024 GOP frontrunner and Trump’s loons are losing more than they’re winning, relatively normal politics is back. Which means it’s not news.
I probably disagree with DeSantis on everything but at least he seems normal enough to ignore if he wins.

There’s a reassuring indistinguishability among non-Trumps, since the vast state machinery seems capable of regulating their individual idiosyncrasies towards a mediocre bureaucratic inertial navigation. The centrists do what the machine expects and the MTGs and AOCs cancel out.

Unfortunately, I don't think normal politics will return with DeSantis. DeSantis is less vulgar than Trump, but seems to be just as aggressively pursuing anti-democratic (small d) policies. brennancenter.org/our-work/analy

Trump is still very popular. The people Trump endorsed for Congress mostly lost because the GOP establishment chose not to support them.
(Its interesting to see two different realities form about what happened with the midterms in real time)
