Genuinely curious to see how deep I get buried by the feed once the de-privileging of the nochecks (checkless? nonchecks? nunchuks?) begins
Lends new meaning to the term “sunk costs”

I might actually have been willing if the thing had been thoughtfully and apolitically introduced as part of a monetization plan, but now the optics are execution are just so bad I think I must diminish, and go into the west

$96/y is a steal viewed as simply a premium marketing service since it’s flat regardless of followership. If you have 100 followers or a million, it’s the same price, but presumably reach scales linearly with followers (unless the algorithm has impression limits or throttling)
Not saying you should pay for it. Saying it should have been done for you a long time ago

I actually have zero objection to paying for Twitter. But the roll-out has been so puerile and insulting that they've given the product negative value.

It doesn't make sense to pay for something that's worse than when it was free.
