jeez, I was half-joking earlier about emperor+peasants vs. the middle-class aka minor nobility but he's going pretty much on the nose with this weird to watch the active coalition side of the 3-way emperor/lords/peasants triangle shift in real time and so baldly

Blue check should be a simple verification of real identity (submit a government ID, get blue check) The fact that it was co-opted as a status signaler and gate-kept by an anointed priest class is a bug not a feature.

I agree that we tend to create visible id markings for status signaling purposes, but I disagree with a centralized authority predisposed to idealogical bias dispensing it. Why does online writer X get the checkmark but not online writer Y? There's never a clear reason.
