Why do strategies fail?
Flawed premises
Can’t see all of the board
Can’t see opponent POV
Under resourced
Bad orientation
Mismatch w/ reality
Morally repugnant
Inept execution
Ideologically rigid
Reactive
Paralyzed indecision/fear
Internal division
“Strategy” not a strategy
Conversation
Increasingly I think most strategies fail because people don’t have enough at stake to develop them with care. Strategy does not take as much brains as people seem to think. Situation awareness is more about mindful involvement than skill. An ounce of caring beats a lb of brains.
