Trying to become a full-stack consultant from homeless-in-barrel Diogenes look, to techie in hoodie, to jacket to conservative suits. I draw the line at tuxes though. Don’t call me to emcee the Oscars in a bowtie or advise royalty on scepter design while wearing ceremonial robes.

Evening plenary. State Senator Shannon Grove (R) points out that CA buys 50% of Ecuador’s oil, and kinda condones the rainforest destruction there. CA republicans know how to poke at dem hypocrisies on climate 😂

What does the state government do with the oil? Does it have its own reserve? Does it own refineries also? (I am trying to look this up but google keeps turning up results for “the state” as a whole economy rather than the government specifically)

No I believe all the actual infrastructure is private. The refineries import crude because domestic production is not enough for California

OK…I guess I’m not sure how this is CA Dem hypocrisy then (not that I doubt there’s lots of it). CA Dems can affect local oil spigot (currently “off”) and future demand (e.g. EV car requirements), but I’m not sure they can dictate how private buyers satisfy current demand?
