Venkatesh Rao@vgr·Oct 22, 2022It’s becoming increasingly clear that for a fragile few years, the grand narrative of the world flowed through TED talks1329375
Venkatesh Rao@vgr·Oct 22, 2022Do people still try to organize TEDx events? That was a very weird phase7250
Stewart Brand@stewartbrand·Oct 22, 2022Replying to @vgrMisplaced cynicism here. All the TEDx events I know of were excellent, including the “TEDx DeExtinction” I co-organized: https://reviverestore.org/events/tedxdeextinction/…13

Venkatesh Rao@vgr·Oct 22, 2022Replying to @vgr and @stewartbrandAnd yes, my random sampling of TEDx talks that happened to cross my radar was remarkably bad12
Stewart Brand@stewartbrand·Oct 22, 2022Replying to @vgrMy random sampling--20 or so--was remarkably good.13
Steven Wardell@stevenwardell·Oct 22, 2022Replying to @vgr and @stewartbrandTED magnificently started giving away it’s recorded talks, a premium product, for free. No one was more surprised than @TEDTalks themselves when they racked up millions of views on YouTube. Next step was equally generously giving their brand away in TEDx.11
