People in nonprofit fundraising — why do people name things in extremely cumbersome ways?
Why “John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation” when you know everyone will just call it MacArthur foundation?
Same with politics. Ridiculously unusable names.

From India: this pompous name for a highway translates to:
Hindu Heart-Emperor Balasaheb Thackeray Prosperity Highway
Quote Tweet
Hindu Hridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Samruddhi Mahamarg.
It will be called "Samruddhi"

More literally “Great Road” rather than highway.

I suspect it’s a power flex. As in “F u, if you want a piece of our wealth you’ll have to use awkward names at every formal mention”

Also cracks me up that “Honorable” is still a title
Also “His Holiness” (HH)
When actual gravitas dies, silly titles step into the void
