this area we're hiking is famous for its "Pan de Cea" which is advertised everywhere as being super special and it turns out to be the most basic bitch crusty flavorless white bread you can imagine. I have no idea how they kept the brand strong for so long

a lot of houses here have this raised box on pillars which they call the "Jew box" and it's for locking up the local Jew and all the kids gather to hear him bang on the boards from the inside

this was somehow built in the 1950s, right around the time the rest of the world decided to only build ugly modern shit. paid for with community funds in a town of 10,000 people. impressive!

spoke with a local lady about how pretty all the little towns in Galicia are, all beautiful stone buildings and vineyards and orchards in the warm sun. she says they're pretty but also all half-abandoned now because the young people all moved to Madrid or other big cities

I've been drinking a ton of red wine every day here but barely even feel buzzed. I think it's because I'm in such a calorie deficit from walking 15-20 miles a day my body just immediately metabolizes the wine into energy.
