Lol. Even the Economist is getting in on management consultant bashing. Cc
I gotta switch to so@e other title. McKinsey has ruined the word for everyone. view.e.economist.com/?qs=1459eef638

Iโm switching to independent researcher. Overdue gearshift anyway.

Damn. I might need to buy this issue.

The great irony is that I think the Economist is in the same category of entities as McKinsey. I like bits and pieces of both but itโs all part of the old literary-industrial complex.

There is literally no respectable title available to me. It all sounds shady:
โIndependent consultantโ (= low-level huckster)
โIndependent researcherโ (= crackpot)
โBloggerโ (= โcouldnโt land a book dealโ)
โDr.โ (= โcouldnโt land a tenured job, huh?โ)

Maybe everyone is just an entrepreneur or an investor now?
It's like those job titles like "Retail Film Archivist" for Blockbuster employees.
So: "Consulting Entrepreneur" or "Thought Investor" :D

I think you work too much and actually care about stuff*** to be an investor, so "entrepreneur" it is.
*** I know you're really trying to hide it, but you do :-)

Glad it looks that way. Plus nowhere near investor-level net worth right now. Aiming for โhouse-poorโ in 2023

Oh these titles aren't about actually being the thing you're called. They're about having the right vibe on your social.
Most of these "investors" are like Robinhood/Coinbase cruisers, or people perpetually "raising a fund".

Goodluck on the house stuff - seems like we're just on the cusp of a further correction though, and then the housing and interest rates will both be aligned at a lower basis.

This is me looking for my next car as prices return to normal - not a rich move, but a fun one :D
