Outside money vs inside money. Inside money = tied to a debt obligation/promise. Gold/bitcoin prototypes of outside money.

Feels like getting an Apollo 11 mission badge without doing anything for it.
Will take a nap and then take on the account abstraction panel at 5.

Ok, skipping that panel. Might watch on livestream from hotel though. Only a couple of spoons left which I have to save for a social dinner (heh almost didn’t notice the spoon theory joke there 🤣)

Premature ossification is the root of all evil
Sufficiently delayed ossification is indistinguishable from cancer
Question is how do dowse for the ossification sweet spot? 🤔

Tech stacks are like avocados. They go from underripe to overripe really fast with a 1 day window where they’re perfect to eat. Max 3 days if refrigerated at the right time.

Ok the livestream is actually kinda a better way to take in a talk

I just rewound a minute to catch something I missed. Live reality kinda sucks. Lacks a rewind button.

It is both impressive and worrisome how EIP numbers are used by everybody as an arcane set of nouns that stand for hairballs of ideas. Like constitution amendment numbers except there’s way more of them. 😰

And Day 3 wrapped with a rather intense but fun dinner from longnow roped me into, with a bunch of people from EF and
Had some excellent pasta. I take back what I said before. Colombia can do great vegetarian food when it tries.

Thought I shared at dinner: current magical/demonic vibe of zk proof subculture is like Lovecraftian horror of general relativity in the 1920s, when lines like “obtuse angles that looked acute” actually scared people. The magic vibe will dissipate and this will be boring in 30y.

To invert Clarke’s law: sufficiently aged magic is indistinguishable from normalcy.

Late start today since I was getting my newsletter out. Indirectly inspired by the dinner gathering last night. Now to shower and once more unto the breach for the final day.

Guy from EFF, Kurt Osphal, doing a thing on civil liberties. I guess the closing ceremonies won’t be just song and dance.

Moar dancing. I think the ones in white are the kids from the opening ceremony. Anyhow I guess that’s it for Devcon. Got a dinner to go to and I head back tomorrow. Then I think I have several weekends of homework to do to actually grok wtf this was all about.

DevCon adventure wraps with a chill Japanese dinner with EF gang. Unless something crypto-ey happens on the way to the airport tomorrow morning, this live thread is a wrap. I think I’ll write a proper reflections post, and if I do I’ll link it here. But for now, gn.

Uneventful ride to airport with no crypto elements (did have an expired credit card moment in Uber app though). Now hanging out at Juan Valdez cafe with my cafe con leche. Flight isn’t for 3h but there was not enough time to do any interesting tourism. El Dorado airport v. nice.
