Somewhat scary talk by on how the implementation of eip4844 is going. Seems like major surgery.

I see LatAm still hasn’t quite grokked the concept of vegetarian since my last trip 🧐

There’s probably going to be a lowkey meetup of refactor camp alumni and random friends if ribbonfarm on Wednesday evening. is pulling it together. Reply to this if you want to join.

Rule: after you hear an acronym 3 times and pretend to understand it, you must google it to learn just how much you don’t. This thing is like 3 levels of abstraction deeper into pure math than I’ve ever been.

Post above links to a Vitalik post on elliptic curve pairings which points to a primer on elliptic curves, which is a couple of levels beyond what I’ve ever touched. So half this room is comfortable literate in stuff that’s actually 5 levels deeper than where I am 😬

Crypto is evil twin of ML. The math gets deep fast. In ML if you poke a bit, they never get past matrix multiplication. They just do tons of them. The obscurity of ML comes from the quality of sheer quantity. In crypto, understanding Riemann hypothesis is apparently table stakes.

3. One important issue is that "crypto" means different things to different people.
To me, the core of "crypto" is the tech and mechanisms. ZK-SNARKs, BLS, auction models, x*y=k, quadratic funding... shape rotating all the way
Pairings literally use 12-dimensional curve twists!

Lol
I think the shape rotator/wordcel meme is actually thiel’s statistics/calculus divide. “Rotation” in the meme sense is intuitive rather than analytical, so learned from zillion examples rather than group theory. Latest text to 3d models show strengths/weaknesses of that
