What tricks do you use to pre-compensate/build slack for known or highly probable future compromised states (illness, emotional compromise etc) Eg: don’t make decisions while depressed, add a few days of schedule slack to accommodate jet lag, etc

Never start a new long-term project when I have excess energy. Anything I need to commit to long term should be started when I'm at baseline or below, because that tells me I actually have capacity for it.
