Interesting as a strong leadership belief in a good leader. He’s right it’s a sign of dysfunction in a good, centralized hierarchical org. For decentralized networks, basically every result/algorithm I’ve read about tldrs to “communicate more, between more pairs of points”

I read the quote more of as an argument against having tight communication between different teams, not against tight communication between the individuals of a small team (Amazon tends to have small teams)

The best source on this is actually Steve Yegge’s rant I’d say, which does a better job of presenting the Bezos way than Bezos himself does In-team rule is 2-pizza limit plus culture of silent reading of doc for 10-15 minutes. Amazing 10x effect on in-team comms in my experience
