What do you call a newsletter writer? "Blogger" seems wrong even though the sector is trying to kill/substitute blogs and claim the term. "Writer" seems too broad. "Substacker" seems too specific to the market leading brand.

even the simplest newsletter if it's actually being sent out regularly is sufficiently identity defining. Your comparisons are kinda category-errorish.
I've been looking at this under a lens of 'radio talk-show host' & how many transitioned to television talk-show host.
