I watch a lot of TV and blockbuster movies, have read many of the big properties that make it to screen, and am at least in the middle quintile of nerd knowledge on many works, but I wouldn’t say I’m a fan of anything. Definitely not in any fandom.

Like, the fandom knives seem to be out for The Rings of Power but I’m kinda looking forward to it and will watch it if it beats at least the Hobbit movies. I suspect most are like me. When things fail with non-fandom majority I think it’s for different reasons than with core fans

I had a year or two in uni when I got Marvel Unlimited and started reading through the Avengers Disassembled / House of M / Dark Reign stuff. Compared to lifelong comics collectors that's nothing, but it's been a great investment in terms of being "the marvel girl" among friends.
