Coming on the heels of Alex Steffen’s 8-week personal ruggedization course ($2890) I wonder if a personal climate transition cottage industry is booting up in front of us.

None of us can afford to plan our futures as if the planetary crisis weren't here — and getting worse fast. I'm teaching a 10-week course on how to make better personal choices in the face of discontinuity. It's something we all need to get ready for. 🧵 alexsteffen.substack.com/p/this-letter-

Bunker Life now scaled down from billionaires and centi-millionaires to mere deci-millionaires šŸ‘€ (that’s my guess… these offerings are pricey because I think the price tag for actually acting decisively and non-LARPily on anything you learn is probably in multi-million range)

Tacticool mall-ninja-ing is actually quite affordable. As is having no mainstream life and hiding out in a militia camp in a cheap area. But if you want a relatively normal life continuing a mainstream career etc while doing sober prepping on the side, it will probably be pricey.

Usually with any new trend, I can think of at least a half-ass idea to profit from it. In this case I don’t think I qualify to even be a customer of it, even if I had the $ to spare. Prepping and ruggedization is like the opposite of my natural temperament.
