In biz nonfiction they tend to get worse, not better, as they get shorter with age and fame. Seth Godin and Tom Peters come to mind. Went from solid early works to overproduced slim airport trinkets. Often in literally tiny stocking-stuffer sizes with not even novella word counts

It’s more like they’ve ascended to a peak where they don’t let themselves think about the trivial seeds from which trees grow. They try to only think Always-Already Lofty Thoughts. Too Much Gravitas.
