"Wild animal suffering" is the usual (very googleable) effective-altruist buzzword for talking about this. There's quite a few people who are very open to the idea that we should radically re-engineer the environment to be more friendly (once tech improves enough to do it safely)
It’s much older. There was an old philosophical movement I think that explicitly had improving on nature on dimension of suffering as a goal, can’t recall the name. Possibly some flavor of cosmism
