Been in a weird mood to cook carby Indian food. Must be the hot summer. Protein-eating feels like an actual chore. I’ve made upma more times this summer than in the previous 3-4 years combined. Oh well, yolo.

Any recipe should work. It’s not a haute cuisine dish, quite forgiving except for the water:rava ratio which needs to be around 1.6:1 for the fine rava :)

The dichotomy of upma is I've never once in all my life seen anyone order upma at a restaurant, yet I consistently crave upma for breakfast at home.
Can't think of any other dish -desi or otherwise - that has a higher ratio of home : restaurant patronage. Maybe meatloaf? 🤔
