I was thinking more the popular "I make connections across disconnected things" style of thinking, which was a popular "systems" thinking shtick through the 80s/90s

I see, but systems are more like something man-made. In other words, physical law does not represent the order in the universe; it is derived from our description of the universe. So there's no disconnection, we just haven't figure it out? Does that make sense?
