Yeah, this piece in particular needs zero external references to offer a critical alternative framing. I wonder why such a piece would be published now and here. What work is this doing and for whom?
Well I’ve also flipped the bozobit on the NYT entirely. It works purely to perpetuate its own profitable media hegemony at this point and will serve any other interest and co-opt any other tool to that end. Wordle and the occassional deep investigation piece do not redeem it.
Then it seems like the NYT is the message here and any invocations of old-fashioned, new-fangled, kids these days, or dire warnings or new stages of Klein are actually just phatic-commercial communications. The message, symptomatically, isn't really important here.
I literally can’t read the column we’re talking about since I canceled my subscription a few years ago and I don’t care enough to even circumvent the paywall for Klein. I assume it’s terrible without reading.
