Can generosity of spirit be taught? If so how? As in, looking for the best in people, giving them the benefit of doubt for motives, spotting their talents etc. I’ve rarely seen people flip polarities on this trait.

Like anything...immerse yourself in a group that practices and values that generosity. Take advantage of the points that culture rewards to nudge you in the desired direction. You can't make changes like this on your own.

You’re kinda assuming the person is already motivated to develop the trait, which begs the question. Why would an in generous person want to do this? Can’t require generosity of spirit as a prerequisite for acquiring generosity of spirit

Because they've seen the joy and abundance that generosity can bring either by accident or by observing others who embody it. I've learned a lot about generosity of spirit from watching people that inspire me. Enough to elevate it on my value list.

In my case it had to do with an utter lack of success on my part while being surrounded by others finding success. The one thing the successful people had in common was generosity of spirit. After a few years of fake it til you make it, I've flipped.

I tend to think the world reflects back whatever vibrations you put into it And yes, sometimes you force it just as you might need to jump start any mode of thought. It's kind of like inverting the passion argument. You like what you're good at is often more true than inverse
