Are there any words in English or other European languages that features the Hindi ठ sound? I can’t think of one

A lot of Hindi speakers still use that sound with the English word 'thug', largely because the Hindi word with ठ is equally pejorative (though not synonymous) and hence they assume it's been appropriated from Hindi into English.

Interesting... I've perhaps always assumed it's not related because of the phonetic difference and because of how out of place the ठ sounds in an English sentence when some people erroneously use that.
