Good ergonomics when you’re young is mostly an investment in the future. Like retirement savings. Almost anything will work when you’re 30 because you’re deep in the interior of the Pareto. Once you hit the Pareto boundary though, the actual costs of long-term habits become clear

Think of sit/stand desks and thoughtful monitor/keyboard setups as 401ks, not checking account. Ergonomics people don’t seem to mention this investment angle. So they sound like annoying scolds enforcing bureaucratic posture regulations.

This is true to an extent However if you have been mostly sedentary, the initial gains curve from a good exercise regime are HUGE! Greater in first 2-3 years than experienced thereafter. Don’t underestimate Readers Digest: Never too late
