Are there any words in English or other European languages that features the Hindi ठ sound? I can’t think of one

Not in English. Unlikely in others either I suspect the ठ and ढ are imports from Dravidian languages ? Post Indo and European split ? @salwamuses

Not at all. In fact simple t is pronounced as both ट and ठ. Plenty of english words use ठ. E.g. what we call टेक is pronounced ठेक. ठार्गेट. ठाईम. Matter of fact, phonetic snobbery is almost exclusively Marathi. And Urdu.

Nope, none of these are ठ Americans pronounce these t’s as a sharp t with a short follow-on aspiration. I’d write it in hindi as टह with the ह being almost imperceptible if you’re not used to it. I had to learn to hear it as inbetween ट and थ. The ठ is a single rolled sound.
