I spent the early pandemic months reading a bunch of books. It felt very enriching at the time. Very healthy opening moves. The exit trajectory by contrast seems like vaguely exhausted goblin mode scenario z flailing.

Pandemic live-reads meta-thread. I have reasons I’m reading these right now and finding them useful for current headspace, but I’ll save those for a blog post. First one was history of Astounding, the legendary sci-fi magazine. twitter.com/vgr/status/123…

I don’t think I could go a 6-heavy-books marathon now. I guess my exit rite of passage is watching a ton of middlebrow tv and movies. Boy am I glad tv and movies have kinda come roaring back. No motivation for anything more demanding.

A toast to the entertainment industry. At least as important as the healthcare, retail, and pharma industries. The latter made continued life possible, but the former made continued life worthwhile. 🥂 When I’m the first Gnome King I’ll declare TV an essential service
