The Wright Flyer had twin counter-rotating props driven by a single engine via a pair of sprocket chains (one crossed). Has such a configuration ever been used since? 🤔

it had a number of other interesting features as well: it had pusher props, a canard, and used "wing warping" for control (instead of ailerons)

a close one might be the chinook helicopter: it has two contra-rotating rotors, both driven by a pair of engines (although a single engine can drive both rotors)
