Just realized I’m just a bit older than the fictional age of the youngest character in Stranger Things, Erica (9 in 1984, so b 1975). The main characters would be a couple of years older. No wonder the show feels so spot on, despite me growing up on the other side of the planet.

Do you think the "good range" of family sizes in terms of number of children has changed substantially due to technology and social dynamics? Or are "good" sibling counts in previous decades still good themselves, just under pressure from other forces (income, house size)?

It feels harder to find a group of families or a community to recreate past conditions (if indeed they're worth recreating).
Having a large family feels like it creates a microcommunity with it's own norms and crucially, it's own relationship with technology!

it’s meaningless to try and recreate pre-internet conditions
gotta live in the present

How about creating zones where the relationship with the internet is different?
Or is it strictly wiser (in your eyes) to create these zones on the internet (rather than meatspace enclaves)?
