Just done with dentist appointment. Idle thought occurred to me that we haven’t really explored the idea of robotic teeth. Chewing up and manipulating/sending bits of the environment with a generalized cutting/grinding/shredding end effector is not a thing in robotics

In parallel, I'm going to start writing a script for my movie: Jaws: Rise of the Basilisk. A terrifying smartmouth robot in 2250 that takes uploads of you from the cloud, compiles them into humaniform robot shells, and EATS THEM ALIVE!!!

Since I just learned about peristaltic pumps, thinking about how to create an artificial oesophagus for semi-solid slurry based on the principle. I’m thinking a synchronized cam chain on a single drive…

TIL: peristaltic pumps that work by squeezing a flexible transport tube rather than forcing fluid through an impeller. This is clearly what I need for an artificial esophagus, except perhaps several on the same tube in series? adafruit.com/product/1150

a coworker once told me that before the phonograph, tons of people tried to invent singing/speaking machines based on reproducing the throat/mouth. I say let's bring that pursuit back! Modern materials, chips, we could do better than they could.
