After years of crossing it on foot and car, took a walk through the literal Silicon Valley. 2 mile after-dinner walk along Saratoga creek from Santa Clara square to the Hyatt. It’s quite a lovely little wetland creek. Saw many ducks. And a skunk. Right by Intel, AMD etc.

Been coming here for work stuff for nearly a decade but never thought to do this walk. Quite a poetic juxtaposition of a fine natural tangled bank and the most high-tech Silicon one. Prize goes to the natural one. It’s more complex than the semiconductor industry.

I’m glad they were able to restore it reasonably well - Santa Clara is a huge Superfund site (right where you were!) theatlantic.com/technology/arc

Most native species left in there are probably non-charismatics like suckers and chubs. Surely somebody deserves naming rights! Historically, steelhead ran up that stream.
