This bias is often talked about as an orientation towards “truth”. The practice as abject commitment to “first principles”.

The irony is a strong orientation towards this frame makes for thinking that is fundamentally uncritical — yet frequently rewarded and reinforced by power/media etc— and thus perceived as rigorous and “rational” or it’s more populist cousin, “common sense”.
