I'm a 42 year old born and raised New Yorker. Never in my entire life have I felt the fear, tension, and anxiety I feel living in NYC right now. The city is like a ticking time bomb. Like everytime I step outside my apartment something bad could happen. It's scary to be here.

yeah feels like its connected a national sentiment, also started during 2020 pandemic when the city did feel sketchier. conservative media also loves to portray NYC as a hellhole (along with other coastal big cities)

The tent cities and endemic petty crime do help those optics, and there’s some general truth to urbanblightocalypse2.0 I guess, but the construction the right likes to place on it is breathtaking in both the bad faith and denial of complicity in whatever truth there is to it
