It’s basically an airport++ with long layovers and malls. I wouldn’t call the people passing through “tourists”

India tourism GDP is 121B, or 4% of a 6x bigger economy in USD terms )not PPP). Tourist numbers about the same. So either tourists in India spend 3x, or the ones in Dubai aren’t really tourists…

Most tourism gdp in India is going to be domestic of course. Dubai is so small “domestic tourism” is literally impossible.

The 1 day I spent in Dubai I was bored to death. Literally nothing to do except go to a mall. I guess I might have gone desert dune riding if more time. It’s mainly a high-end imported shopping destination too, so it’s not like the $ is museums and tours and local crafts.
