Also, since Kirti N. Chaudhuri (son of Nirad Chaudhuri), historians like Sanjay Subrahmanyam, Sebastian Prange, Sujit Sivasundaram etc have increasingly stressed on ocean-centric histories of India. But their efforts has barely touched conventional telling of Indian history.

Fascinating. Had no idea about this. My grandmother’s (Marathi) caste has the origin story that they are lighter skinned in part because they are descended in part from Arab traders.
