i keep seeing lots of popular tweets where people are disparaging other people’s countries and cultures
it makes me sad, because we all have a lot to be proud of and stand up for
so please feel free to reply with things that you love about your country and/or culture!

This feels significantly less true today than in 1997 when I landed here or even 2001 immediately after 9/11

Both. The dominant theory of America now feels closest to Trumpism, and in practice it’s harder to travel between blue and red. I feel uncomfortable in deep red areas now in a way I never did. 10 years ago I did a big road trip through lower 48 and felt at home everywhere
This tracks, and feels like its accelerated pretty rapidly in recent years.
