I really liked the Northumberland region of UK I didn’t actually enjoy many of the standard must-not-miss cliches all that much… Paris, Venice, Rome etc

What would you suggest seeing there? (FWIW, I absolutely loved Venice, the Vatican was my favorite part of Rome instead of the ancient stuff, and Paris was awesome but very much high modernism haha)

Then it may be hit or miss for you. Base out of Newcastle, travel up coast, Farne islands (puffins), Alnwick castle (Hogwarts filmed there), Bamburgh castle, Lindesfarne (oldest church in Britain)… vast amounts of high moors rural landscapes. Cross between England and Scotland.

Interesting. I think my favorite part of Scotland was the Isles by a significant margin, but Glasgow and Edinburgh were both super cool. London had a few iconic things but honestly didn’t love the vibe as much as some folks do. English countryside was very lovely. Suburbs scary.

Oh I do recommend Scotland then if you ever get the chance! Interesting to think of the enlightenment blooming there… I have yet to see Ireland, I’ve heard it’s quite beautiful there as well, and we’ve had some good friends move there so maybe we’ll get a chance to visit
