I sometimes see people say things like "the rich people are not super smart, just hardworking and lucky" and this is absolutely not my experience. From my very small sample that I was fortunate enough to collect, they're >99 percentile in all of: energy, intelligence, curiosity.

They tend to be exceptional in other dimensions, not in these 3. I’ve met a fairly large sample, and more importantly, have also met a lot of people who are top 1% in energy, intelligence, curiosity but not wealth. They definitely push rich people down to like 70th percentile

Controlling for inheritance effects (often overstated and easily controlled for), self-made wealthy, or inheritance super-multipliers, do tend to be top 1% in focus, risk-taking, indifference to sunk costs, and willingness to be disliked

Energy, intelligence, curiosity… these tend to be dimensions prioritized by midwits. It’s how you assess the middle of the pyramid. They are poor dimensions for scoring the abilities of people who end up on top.

I realize you’re being rhetorical here, but the tops of these spectra are way past the “rich” point For eg: Top on intelligence is exceptional physicists/ mathematicians, who are usually middle class in wealth. If you’ve met a couple, the rich are very ordinary by comparison
