I don’t think I’ve ever shopped at an indie book store 🤔

Not counting 2nd hand through Amazon
Amazon was already a thing when I got to the US… did spend a lot of time hanging out drinking coffee at Barnes and Noble and Borders browsing. But basically every book I’ve bought as an adult has been from Amazon.

I occasionally wander through them, but genuinely don’t get the appeal. I also stopped wandering through libraries basically the minute computerized catalogs became a thing.

I think I’m just not sentimental about book culture unlike many serious readers

yeah I spent a lot of my childhood inside libraries but haven't been to one I think since leaving college. Wikipedia + Amazon + my interests getting a lot more niche as an adult kill the value of libraries/bookstores.

Libraries are great and vital to many communities. You should visit yours just to see what is going on in and what is offered.

My library has a makerspace inside. I've been meaning to learn to 3d print.
Also has wonderful local art exhibits from time to time.
