Interesting hypothesis, but I doubt this. It’s conceit of ideologically motivated people that they meaningfully control skills and knowledge that equally smart people with different motivations can easily acquire. You could call it the guild fallacy or something.
It's also a problem that many of the programmers best-equipped to build a real metaverse (game/graphics/network infrastructure) actively hate NFTs and will only support them when forced to
Yeah, my concern is a practical one based on personal experience building metaverse-like spaces and definitely uncertain, so we will see how the process shakes out over time
I felt an enormous jolt of mixed emotions and irony around this with respect to the current U.S. tech & culture scene making tech much more easily accessible to developing nations.
I guarantee they don't have the same issues and hangups with tech that's so prevalent in the U.S.
