How many of the things around you were made by people sick and tired of their jobs? Working 13h a day in terrible conditions? Burned out and bored to death? How different would be your life if they loved what they were doing, and made these things especially for you?

This sweater is very simple compared to an embroidered costume, but do you know how much baby loves it even now? She can see I’ve spent hours of dedicated care and attention to make something just for her. She can feel all the love I’ve put into making it. twitter.com/made_in_cosmos…

Everyone says our culture is so materialistic, but what kind of materialism is this if we can’t even make things that we enjoy using or looking at? We suck at materialism, we don’t really care about material things. If we did, the world would look very different.

This is what I appreciate about Switzerland. They know how to do materialism right. In Zurich there are so many delightful historic houses, with delightful little stores in them, full of delightful things to buy. Even watching them through the window is bringing me joy.
