This is more than marketing though. It’s using the literal value of the packaging to add a value premium. Ie you might but because you want the can, not the tea,

oh, yeah, it's a stronger value-add when the packaging is reusable, but I don't know if you see the upscale packaging *more often* on reusable packages than disposable ones
When I was a kid in Peru they used to sell ice cream in baseball-sized plastic balls. We definitely bought it for the container. You’d eat the ice cream, seal it up, then kick the ball around the yard.
