A (interesting?) question for students of Indian intellectual thought:
are there examples of ancient Indian thinkers/philosophers who began as participants in one philosophical school (darsana) and subsequently "converted" to another following engagement with another:

Is there a good history of these covering both religion/philosophy and science/math? I only know of major ones like Aryabhata, Sankara and only in passing via school history plus some Wikipedia. Feels like we need a Durant Story of Philosophy type book. Maybe you should write it.

☺️ I am supposed to work on one, contractually, and so will begin sometime later this year once i finish the 2nd volume of my book. This was a test run of sorts, to get ideas flowing... that sort of thing.

Excellent! I haven’t been inspired to pick up your Mahabharata thing tbf because it’s not my kind of fiction, but I’d definitely read a history of Indian intellectual traditions
Especially if you are able to situate it globally with others, mixing with Islamic/European etc.

It's bit difficult to frame well and do some sort of justice -- all within a book. For now, it will probably end in 8-9thC, with Sankara, since he is a sort of a rupture between an ancient mind and what has followed. I am curious to sit & work on it. If nothing, it should be fun.
