are there examples of ancient Indian thinkers/philosophers who began as participants in one philosophical school (darsana) and subsequently "converted" to another following engagement with another:

Is there a good history of these covering both religion/philosophy and science/math? I only know of major ones like Aryabhata, Sankara and only in passing via school history plus some Wikipedia. Feels like we need a Durant Story of Philosophy type book. Maybe you should write it.

☺️ I am supposed to work on one, contractually, and so will begin sometime later this year once i finish the 2nd volume of my book. This was a test run of sorts, to get ideas flowing... that sort of thing.

Excellent! I haven’t been inspired to pick up your Mahabharata thing tbf because it’s not my kind of fiction, but I’d definitely read a history of Indian intellectual traditions
Especially if you are able to situate it globally with others, mixing with Islamic/European etc.

Not much about Math/sci but this book covers religious, philosophical, Indian aesthetics & literary debates. Also has with some debates 'in' lit.
Also there's some coverage on modern theological debates by Raja ram mohan Roy, Dayanand Saraswati & how modern debates have changed.
