Is there a good recommended book on all kinds of lab/shop safety in one place? It’s like you have to learn horror lore one tool at a time. I got some very perfunctory safety tips in undergrad ME shop class that I’ve basically forgotten and was mostly about bigger machine tools

get any textbook about machine tools or welding or etc written prior to like 1990 and reaf the section on safety (after that, liability caused every such section to be clogged to the brim with useless bullshit)

A good thread, but it should be kept in mind that many fail to distinguish between crucial safety advice (i.e. ring on finger while touching a spinning piece on a lathe) and nitpicks (virtually every professional welder has done countless MIG tacks with no gloves on).
