in the late 90s / early 00s i remember hearing about overpopulation and how it’s bad and how this means we should adopt kids more and have our own kids less. does anyone still care about this now? seems to have died as a talking point. maybe subsumed into sustainability?

People just gave up because there was no real solution and we’d just have to deal with unsustainability and collapse. Which is exactly what’s happening in large parts of the global south, on schedule. In India, it became a stupid point of pride for the right to be billion+
