I designed and printed a whole 3d part on the assumption that a lightbulb has a roughly hemispherical beam. In fact the beam is like a 30 degree cone and I have the thing designed so the beam points 90 degrees off from where I want it 😑

Otoh good news that it is such a narrow beam it will work very well even without much collimating once I turn the design 90 degrees into the intended light path

Even this thread has a hidden wrong assumption. The beam is not narrow because of an integrated reflector. Looks like it’s the glass shape itself and natural beam pattern of the filament. Hard to tell.

That’s where the fun comes in. Both explicit and inexplicit knowledge (eg assumptions) growth are infinite, the more one explains the more unexplained that gets revealed because reality isn’t made of predictive models, it’s made of theoretical possibilities: like propositions.
