Kinda interesting that "care" is an ambivalent word. To have a care (noun) is to have burdens and the opposite is being "carefree" Otoh, being able to "care" (verb) is central to feeling life has meaning. To be depressed is to not be able to care about anything.

In my notes for my next chapter of my book on what I call the "index level" of a temporality (where identity coheres), I have this at the top of the page... now I guess I'll have to go check out what convoluted way Heidegger put it in terms of dasein or whatever

To the extent there's a line of influence, it's through Hannah Arendt, who I *have* read and am able to vibe with. I suspect to a first approximation, my diffs with MH would be the same as hers.
