in the metaverse how do they decide how tall you are?

I’ve seen apps which seem to use headset cameras actually calibrate sitting down/standing up… it’s a nontrivial consideration for action…

At least one game asked me to select if I was standing or sitting to adjust visual field height. Headsets have cameras to set safety boundaries and do passthrough AR…detecting height and other parameters (arm swing etc) will get more important for many apps. Like fitness ones.

this is really fascinating...the idea of VR enforcing meatspace constraints instead of letting you escape them

I mean not all do. You can morph into a giraffe or mouse I guess. But mapping your actions to an avatar for physical action can’t really escape meatspace constraints that easily. Social apps can but then they’re not the appeal of VR.
