Here’s a fun pricing case study/creator economy brainstorm.
On substack, you are expected to offer a discount for your annual subscription. Like $5/mo/$50 per year. But this means you’ve soft-committed to writing steadily for a longer period out. Can you mess with that?…

Does Substack require you to write weekly? Why not just become a monthly newsletter with supplemental bonus material when you publish more often?
For short reads weekly can be nice but for longer works once a month gives me something to look forward to rather than have pile up.

It doesn't prescribe any frequency, but a weekly norm appears to have emerged. Yes it can be bucked I guess. I've considered doing that. Will have to think about how to reset expectations.

I like weekly newsletters if I'm looking for entertainment/eye candy/quick inspiration but for more thoughtful (and especially longer) prose, I would prefer that you (and others) put their energy toward a monthly installment (with supplements as inclination arises).
